Top Ten Finish for Oliver ad SGR Racing
The ninth round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship at Cadwell Park saw Tom Oliver aboard his SGR Racing Yamaha finish in a superb eighth place.
The Colchester youngster put in consistent laps during qualifying at the undulating Lincolnshire track securing eighth place on the grid. Oliver didn’t get the start he had hoped for and was soon swallowed up by the pack. However, he dug deep and fought his way through to the back of the leading group.
A couple of hairy moments saw Oliver save his SGR Racing Yamaha from crashing out of the action, however these moments cost him vital time. The 12 lap race was red flagged at eight laps due to a crash at Charlies. With the shortened race distance Oliver was unable to progress any further and had to settle for eighth place.
Tom Oliver said: “I’m well happy with our result. I got a bad start and gave myself a lot of work but I was closing in on the leading group as the race progressed. I felt comfortable on the bike and it was working really well. I’m confident we can be at the sharp end at Oulton Park as we had a good result there earlier in the year.”
Stephen Kinghorn, Team Owner said: “Tom’s lap times were really consistent during the race and he was making great progress, it’s just a shame the race stopped four laps early. I’m really pleased with this weekend, everyone worked hard and worked together for another great result. We are all really looking forward to Oulton Park where we believe we can get another top result. Bring it on!”
The tenth round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship is on 9th-11th September at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
