Points Scoring Oulton Park for Oliver and SGR Racing
The 10th round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire, saw Tom Oliver on his SGR Racing Yamaha finish in 11thplace and move to ninth overall in the championship.
Qualifying went well at the undulating circuit with Oliver putting the Yamaha into fourth place at the front of row two. The 12 lap race was action packed and Oliver got away well, slotting straight into third place off the line. By Shell hairpin he had moved up to second place.
The Colchester rider has shown great form by running at the front in recent races and Oulton was no exception. As the race progressed however he felt like the bike was going away from him and it didn’t have the same feel it had during qualifying. This made it difficult to maintain the fast pace he had at the beginning of the race.
Tom Oliver said: “Overall it’s been a good weekend I’m just disappointed not to have finished further up in the race. The bike felt different and as the race went on it was difficult to hold my line. I’m pleased to have scored more points and moved into the top ten in the championship overall. Next weekend is Donington Park so I’ll concentrate on that now.”
Stephen Kinghorn Team Owner said: “I’m really proud of Tom, he rode a mature race and scored more points. He has also shown his potential to run at the front. We will go away and see what we can find for next weekend at Donington Park. We had a lot of support this weekend from team sponsors and friends who came to Oulton to wish us well. We really appreciated their support and it was great to introduce SIG and Excelsior Services to the race Paddock.”
