Frustrating Snetteron for Oliver and SGR Racing
The sixth round of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship at Snetterton in Norfolk was a frustrating affair for Colchester’s Tom Oliver and his SGR Racing Yamaha Team. What started as a promising weekend unfortunately ended with a DNF to show for all their hard work.
The fast, flat Snetterton circuit is usually a track at which Oliver shines and this weekend he was feeling confident and running at the front, qualifying in a steady eighth position.
Once the lights went out he surged straight into fifth place and battled hard to get into fourth position. Oliver and his SGR Racing Yamaha were on the pace and he really had his work cut out battling closely with his rivals. A podium position was on the cards when unfortunately Oliver tucked the front and went down at the fast Coram bend, thankfully unhurt.
Stephen Kinghorn, Team Owner said: “It really was a shame Tom crashed out but I was just thankful he got up and walked away as that is a very fast corner. The team had been working well all weekend and we felt confident of a podium finish as we know Tom and the bike have the pace. We can take a lot of positives from this weekend and put that all into the next round. I’d like to say a big thank you to Colin from 100% Suspension, he has really helped us a lot.”
Tom Oliver said: “I’m gutted with how it all ended as I was really enjoying the race, it was a good battle. I’m sure we can pull it back at Brands Hatch. It’s just one of those things, thankfully I’m not injured, so I’ll put it behind me and concentrate on Brands Hatch.”
The seventh round of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship is on 21st – 23rd July at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent.
