Tom Oliver aboard his SGR Racing Yamaha had a solid weekend at round three of the Dickies British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park, coming away with two eighth places.
The challenging Cheshire circuit is one of Oliver’s favourites and he was determined to come away with plenty of points. He started the weekend by qualifying in 11thplace putting him on the fourth row of the grid.
When the 12-lap sprint race got underway Oliver wasted no time forging his way into the top ten, securing eighth place over the line. He got faster each session and his best lap time from the sprint race placed him in ninth place on the grid for the feature race.
The feature race got under way in high temperatures making it an even tougher race than usual. Oliver got off the line well and slide into seventh place straight away. He was involved in a three-way battle for the bulk of the race swapping places between seventh and ninth place throughout. He was just pipped on the line to seventh place securing a solid and consistent eighth place finish.
Tom Oliver said: “Our weekend went really well, the team worked great in the hot conditions. I felt strong on the bike and went faster every time we got out on track. Two top ten finishes is great but I feel we have more to come. Bring on Snetterton.”
Stephen Kinghorn said: “What a weekend! It was very hot but we still worked well together to give Tom what he needed to do his job – he just got faster and faster. I was thrilled to see Tom interviewed on the grid and we really appreciate all the support from the comms team of Jack Burnicle, James Whitham and James Hayden. I’d also like to thank Dale Robinson for all his support this weekend. I’m now looking forward to see what we can achieve at Snetterton.”
The fourth round of the Dickies British Supersport race is on 15th-17thJune at Snetterton in Norfolk.
